We've made a few changes at the shop! Not that it's news. We're always shifting things around but this change was much needed and we love the results. Our journals and boxed greeting cards have a lovely new home! We think they're easier to browse and are a little moreaestheticallypleasing.

What do you think?

Tossit! How Do You Play? Well... You Toss It!

November 25, 2024 Clare Brooks
IMG_1081.jpg IMG_1082.jpg

We received a demo of this new game, Tossit, and had an absolute BLAST testing it out. We'll have to post a video of one of our friendly competitions here soon once the busy season winds down. In the meantime, if you're curious and want to try it out just let us know and we'll have a friendly competition . We loved it so much that we just had to have it. Soooo... it's now available @ the shop!

How to play:

The objective is to reach 13 points before your opponent by throwing your Tossits the closest to the jack (the black dart) as possible. The team with the Tossit closest to the jack wins the round and scores one point for each of its Tossits that are closer than the opposing team's closest Tossit. The winning team throws the jack for the next round.

TLDR: It feels like a combination of darts & cornhole. Quick setup, fast gameplay, & is a fantastic option for competitive folks wanting a game they can easily pick up and play. We it.

We'd like to take a moment to share a little holiday PSA. Sometimes it just seems easier to shop online, we get that. We've started to notice more and more predatory trends taking place online, ESPECIALLY around the holidays. It's easy to be drawn in by free shipping, high ratings, and "sales". Is it really free shipping or a "sale" when you're paying double the price for the item? An item that your local shop *cough* has for half the price? These are just a few examples out of the thousands of items we carry. We always aim for MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price) or less. We realize we can't always have the best prices. Sometimes the juggernauts win, it's just the way things are. The important thing to remember is we at least try to get you the best prices possible. We're people too, we're locals, we want you to leave happy and we'll do everything in our power to make that happen. That means we won't jack up the price due to corporate greed. All that said, we ask that you please consider shopping local this holiday season. It's been an amazing 10 years and we look forward to serving you for years to come.

  • A striking rendition of Alice in Wonderland transported to a shimmering Alaskan tundra, in Jan Brett's rich signature style.

When Alice spies a white rabbit checking his pocket watch before hippity-hopping down a crevasse in an Alaskan glacier, she knows she must follow him. And so she pops down the rabbit hole, into a world of absurd personalities, topsy-turvy action, and laugh-out-loud silliness. Favorite characters like Cheshire Cat and the Duchess and King and Queen come to life as vibrant animals native to Alaska making this classic tale shine through a fresh lens, certain to appeal to readers of all ages.

  • This limited hardcover collector's edition of the #1 New York Times bestselling novel and sequel to Colleen Hoover's phenomenal It Ends with Us features a beautiful foil cover, designed endpapers, and special recipes from Atlas and Lily's story.

Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil coparenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.

But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life--and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter's life.

Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas,It Starts with Uspicks up right where the epilogue for the "gripping, pulse-pounding" (Sarah Pekkanen,New York Timesbestselling author) bestselling phenomenonIt Ends with Usleft off. Revealing more about Atlas's past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that "no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover" (Anna Todd,New York Timesbestselling author).

  • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Babel and Yellowface comes an all-new, fully illustrated, collector's edition of R. F. Kuang's debut novel, The Poppy War. Considered one of Time Magazine's 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time, the story of orphaned Rin's rise to power gets a fresh look with a full-wrap illustrated jacket and black-and-white interior art by JungShan Chang throughout, plus embossed case, designed end papers, and sprayed edges.

When Rin aced the Keju--the Empire-wide test to find the most talented youth to learn at the Academies--it was a shock to everyone: to the test officials, who couldn't believe a war orphan from Rooster Province could pass without cheating; to Rin's guardians, who believed they'd finally be able to marry her off and further their criminal enterprise; and to Rin herself, who realized she was finally free of the servitude and despair that had made up her daily existence. That she got into Sinegard--the most elite military school in Nikan--was even more surprising.

    But surprises aren't always good.

Because being a dark-skinned peasant girl from the south is not an easy thing at Sinegard. Targeted from the outset by rival classmates for her color, poverty, and gender, Rin discovers she possesses a lethal, unearthly power--an aptitude for the nearly mythical art of shamanism. Exploring the depths of her gift with the help of a seemingly insane teacher and psychoactive substances, Rin learns that gods long thought dead are very much alive--and that mastering control over those powers could mean more than just surviving school.

For while the Nikara Empire is at peace, the Federation of Mugen still lurks across a narrow sea. The militarily advanced Federation occupied Nikan for decades after the First Poppy War, and only barely lost the continent in the Second. And while most of the people are complacent to go about their lives, a few are aware that a Third Poppy War is just a spark away . . .

Rin's shamanic powers may be the only way to save her people. But as she finds out more about the god that has chosen her, the vengeful Phoenix, she fears that winning the war may cost her humanity . . . and that it may already be too late.
